Calico Cat – Calvin, the Crafty

This calico cat looks straight at you from his place on the wall. Calvin’s trying to decide if it’s time to meow loudly so you know just how hungry he is. However, don’t let those innocent eyes fool you. Calvin is an extremely crafty calico cat. He knows his bowl is full, however a extra treat or two would be greatly appreciated. He’s contemplating whether or not he could convince you with one meow or two.

Meow, meow, meow. I knew he wouldn’t wait very long.

All works have been handmade by me in my smoke-free home. From the initial painting of the eyes as part of The #100dayproject Challenge through cutting the fur from fabric scraps and sewing them down on specially selected background, this work of art evolved over time into the colorful piece it is. While for some, the abstract nature of the Faces Collection may seem quirky, my intent was to create works where the spirit and essence of each animal shone through its eyes.

Grey Cat Portrait – Mazie, the Hunter

This grey cat portrait captures the piercing look of Mazie, the hunter. She is contemplating when to pounce on that pile of leaves that shifts back and forth in the breeze. Since Mazie frequently slinks around from room to room, keep a watchful eye on her. She plans each of her hunts carefully and is quick in her movements. She is out the door before you even know she’s missing. Cat – 1; Leaf – 0.

All works have been handmade by me in my smoke-free home. From the initial painting of the eyes as part of The #100dayproject Challenge through cutting the feathers from fabric scraps and sewing them down on specially selected background, this work of art morfed over time into the colorful piece it is. While for some, the abstract nature of the Faces Collection may seem quirky, my intent was to create works where the spirit and essence of each animal shone through its eyes. Brown Spirit Owl looks as though he has just woken up from a late evening nap. He is ready to guard you or your loved ones during all times of night. His watchful eyes keep a sharp lookout for danger and maybe also a midnight snack. One treat for you, one treat for him. Oh, you don’t want a field mouse snack? All the more for Brown Spirit Owl then.

Brown Spirit Owl is one of the Spirit Birds of the Faces Collection. His wide hand-painted eyes reveal his role as a spirit guide and show his wisdom and knowledge. His brothers are Grey Hawk Spirit Bird and White Spirit Owl.

This White Spirit Owl looks out into the darkness of the night. Is it a messenger of the spirit? Is it offering wisdom and guidance? Or is it serving as a guardian for those in the home? While its eyes to hold an intense gaze, the tilt of this owl’s head reveals his sense of curiosity.

White Spirit Owl is one of the Spirit Birds of the Faces Collection. His wide hand-painted eyes reveal his role as a messenger, of hope and comfort. His brothers are Grey Hawk Spirit Bird and Brown Spirit Owl.

Brown Cat Portrait – Pete, the Planner

This brown cat portrait of Pete, the Planner shows off his grey nose streak and his sparkling eyes. The fact that this mottled brown cat is staring straight ahead is not an indication that he doesn’t want any “pets”. Rather his strategy is “If I appear not interested, maybe I’ll get a treat of a head-scratch or belly rub.” In addition, Pete plans to walk around your feet twice and then plop down facing the opposite direction. Would that plan lure you in?

Brown and White Dog – Buster, the Napper

Buster is a brown and white dog, part Saint Bernard and part “unknown”. While his relations might be known for their adventures in the mountains, this dog is quite content to nap for long periods of time. Certainly, when he wakes there is always a bit of stick fetching and eating to be done. However, then it’s right back to a comfy nap.

Brown Cat – Office Art

This brown cat appears to be just office wall art. However, Phineas, the Prowler, contemplates the hunt. Gazing straight ahead, he slowly creeps forward and after that, he slinks around the corner. He watches the movement of something outside your office window. You look and see nothing. However, Phineas convinces you that there is definitely something hidden in those shadows. Is it a field mouse or just the movement of the aspen leaves? Certainly better let this brown cat find out for you.
