]]> This calico cat looks straight at you from his place on the wall. Calvin’s trying to decide if it’s time to meow loudly so you know just how hungry he is. However, don’t let those innocent eyes fool you.  Calvin is an extremely crafty calico cat. He knows his bowl is full, however a extra treat or two would be greatly appreciated. He’s contemplating whether or not he could convince you with one meow or two.

Meow, meow, meow. I knew he wouldn’t wait very long.

 

All works have been handmade by me in my smoke-free home. From the initial painting of the eyes as part of The  #100dayproject Challenge through cutting the fur from fabric scraps and sewing them down on specially selected background, this work of art evolved over time into the colorful piece it is.  While for some, the abstract nature of the Faces Collection may seem quirky, my intent was to create works where the spirit and essence of each animal shone through its eyes.

Brown Spirit Owl is one of the Spirit Birds of the Faces Collection. His wide hand-painted eyes reveal his role as a spirit guide and show his wisdom and knowledge.  His brothers are Grey Hawk Spirit Bird and White Spirit Owl.

]]> This bunch of carrots looks as if it was freshly picked from the garden. The brillance of the yellows, red and oranges contrasting against the black “soil”  creates a tasty pallette for the eyes as well as one’s mouth.  Luckily there’s no soil that still clings to the root hairs. So this whole handful can certainly be your afternoon snack.  Oh, wait a minute!  This lush bunch of carrots are fabric carrots, not real ones. Guess you’ll need to go pick some of your own.

I create all art pieces in my smoke free home.  This piece comes all set for hanging with a shim and wire in the sleeve on the back.  You just need to decide if it will go in your kitchen or dining area.

If you want other vegetables to complete your decor, check out the eggplant, beets, or the peppers.  Certainly with all that deliciousness, it’s time to prepare a large pan of roasted veggies!!
