Brown Spirit Owl  looks as though he has just woken up from a late evening nap.  He is ready to guard you or your loved ones during all times of  night. His watchful eyes keep a sharp lookout for danger and maybe also a midnight snack.  One treat for you, one treat for him.  Oh, you don’t want a field mouse snack?  All the more for Brown Spirit Owl then.

Brown Spirit Owl is one of the Spirit Birds of the Faces Collection. His wide hand-painted eyes reveal his role as a spirit guide and show his wisdom and knowledge.  His brothers are Grey Hawk Spirit Bird and White Spirit Owl.

All works have been handmade by me in my smoke-free home. From the initial painting of the eyes as part of The  #100dayproject Challenge through cutting the feathers from fabric scraps and sewing them down on specially selected background, this work of art morfed over time into the colorful piece it is.  While for some, the abstract nature of the Faces Collection may seem quirky, my intent was to create works where the spirit and essence of each animal shone through its eyes.
