The vibrant colors of the mountains add a realistic look to this free range chicken. Inspired by a watercolor painting by Kara Fitzbeauchamp of Evening Song Farm, this 22” x 24” wall hanging would look perfect in a nursery, toddler’s room or a kitchen with a farm décor theme. The color in the batiks that form the mountain range, hills and prairie land offer a striking contrast to the tan cottons of the chicken. Sewn using raw-edge applique technique, the grasses in the foreground were attached by free-motion quilting. The sky is hand painted with acrylic paint.
The flat shim in the back hanging sleeve allows for a simple hanging process. You could also remove the wire and shim and replace with your own dowel. This makes the perfect chicken gift to yourself or a friend who loves these feathery friends.
